Job Scopes
- Serves as a member of the Plant Leadership Team setting direction and policy for the entire operation. Communicate direction to primary and secondary report personnel. Hold the department accountable for adherence to plant direction, policy, and key performance indicators.
- Implements the Company's Work System from a leader-led perspective. Is fully accountable for the Autonomous Maintenance Centre of Excellence and has a thorough understanding of its content & process. Creates a plan for the AM center in line with the site master plan. Reviews progress according to the cadence and makes necessary changes as required. Leads the operations team to enable zero quality defects and zero losses, and approaches cost of manufacturing from a zero-based budget basis.
- Provide leadership and development to the Line Managers, Shift Managers, and Supervisors, assessing their training needs and development opportunities to enable the effective management of their respective lines in line with Skill Matrix and IDP.
- Responsible for compliance with all regulations. Food safety – plant in proper sanitary condition at all times, including allergen control, pest control, and guidelines followed. Compliance with food safety policies and procedures. Compliance with employee safety policies and procedures
- Accountable for the cost of goods produced ( Cost of manufacturing and cost of goods sold ), primarily the FE ( Factory expenses).
- Develop plans and initiatives to reduce the cost of manufacturing, focusing on Yield losses and other manufacturing expenses ( Resources and consumables)
- Assist in the development, management, and implementation of capital projects and business initiatives.
- Develop plans and initiatives to maintain high levels of plant sanitation and product quality.
- Identifies and develops plans to address operational performance issues, drive to root cause understanding, and implement technical solutions.
- Ensure Site Agreement is adhered to while using coaching and discipline to drive improved performance and morale while maintaining standards.
- Provides input into the development of maintenance programs for all equipment and property within the Plant.
- Responsible for daily cadence sustainability: Ensure achievement of all area/shift KPIs; ensure adherence to and continuous improvement for all area/shift CRS elements.
- Responsible for assisting with/creating operating budgets and capital budgets with other department managers. Responsible for all department expense budgets with appropriate accounting information. Manage within the budget. Participate in the business planning and budgeting process. Develop short and long-term cost containment/reduction strategies.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of the organization's strengths, weaknesses, and resources, identifying potential organizational problems and opportunities.
- Make strategic decisions, considering immediate and long-term implications, benefits and costs, and risks associated with decision alternatives.
- Drive the Company's Values and adhere to and administer company policies and procedures
- To comply with GMP and continuously improve our Food Safety Programme
- To perform any ad-hoc tasks given.
- Manages operations Company's Cost Saving programs within targeted annual savings by keeping track of all initiatives under operations as well as supporting other cross-functional projects leading to Cost savings ( Innovation, Renovation, Process Improvements)
Job Requirements
- The successful candidate will be tertiary educated in a manufacturing or other supply chain operations discipline.
- A minimum of 10 years experience in a manufacturing facility would be highly desirable.
- The successful candidate will have demonstrated strong leadership skills and the ability to influence significant change in a work culture.
- The successful candidate will be results-orientated, motivated, inspires and gains the respect of others, demonstrates exceptional communication skills, and can manage multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities.
- Candidate must be able to effectively function in a union environment and promote positive labor relations.
- Experience in working on ERP systems like SAP and SCADA-controlled plant operations would be an added advantage. Strong computer skills are a prerequisite.
- Previous exposure to LEAN principles and practices is very highly regarded ( 6 Sigma will be added advantage)
